Here at Future Forge we have Multiple Tiers of memberships to keep things accessible: Individual and Family rates, and you can sign up by the month or for a whole year.

QUICK TWO-STEP ENROLLMENT
1. First Step: Check out the space during one of our public tours.
- Get a feel for this community space to see if it is something that you would like to be part of. See which tools are available to new members and which tools require training before use.
2. Second Step: Attend a guided member orientation.
- This will take about an hour for you to get a feel for the space and how to use any tools in your safety level. As of now the member orientations will be conducted with each new member as they come to the space for the first time.

Explore Volunteer Opportunities
Description: The facility janitorial volunteers are responsible for helping us put our best foot forward. Once a week, volunteers will come to the makerspace, empty trash, dust, wash windows, clean the bathroom, etc, so that our facility is ready for the youth and community that we support.
Available Volunteer Positions: 2-3
Part time: 2 hours weekly/ 8 hours monthly
Benefit: Free Membership (upon completion of monthly hours).
Skills Needed: Thorough cleaning skills, Attention to detail
Duties:
- Service, clean, or supply restrooms.
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
- Gather and empty trash.
- Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees.
- Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment.
Description: A makerspace is an unruly beast always seeking to collapse into chaos. These volunteers are the heroes that fight that chaos by organizing. They find a place for everything, and help make things flow more smoothly in the space. This person will also help maintain inventory counts in the facility, ensuring we keep things that we use in stock.
Available Volunteer Positions: 1 youth 16+/ 1 Adult
Part time: 2 hours weekly/ 8 hours monthly
Benefit: Free Membership (upon completion of monthly hours).
Skills Needed: Organization skills, Attention to detail
Duties:
- Take/manage inventory in each area.
- Make sure all items are organized in each section.
- Make sure supplies for each section are stocked and maintained.
- Report missing items.
Description: The 3D Printing and Laser Gurus keep our technical equipment running like finely-oiled machines. They will maintain and test the 3D printers and lasers, recalibrating them as needed.
Available Volunteer Positions: 1 youth 16+/1 Adult
Part time: 2 hours weekly/ 8 hours monthly
Benefit: Free Membership (upon completion of monthly hours).
Skills Needed: Computer skills, Attention to detail, 3D and Laser cutting skills
Duties:
- Test and Maintenance Machinery.
- Take and maintain inventory of 3D printing and laser areas.
- Make sure tools are organized.
Description: The Sewing Machine Guru makes sure all our sewing equipment is running as it should. This person will test, use, and maintain the sewing machines,, embroidery machines, quilting machines, and other sewing components. They will plan sewing projects at the Makerspace involving the equipment.
Available Volunteer Positions: 2 Adults
Part time: 2 hours weekly/ 8 hours monthly
Benefit: Free Membership (upon completion of monthly hours).
Skills Needed: detail-oriented, light computer skills, sewing machine skills
Duties:
- Test and Maintenance all sewing machines and embroidery machines.
- Take and maintain inventory of textiles area .
- Make sure all sewing tools are organized and stocked.
- Plan Sewing projects/ Training Classes.
Description: Is your dream come true to be given access to a makerspace full of tools and equipment, a budget, and a directive to come up with awesome projects that will entertain youth and adults alike? If so, your dream is right here at The New Makerspace. We need someone who can use their creative skills to come up with fun projects in the world of maker craft that can be taught to youth and adults in indoor and outdoor event settings. This person will create written curriculum and instructions to accompany projects, assemble supply and shopping lists, and help set up for special events. This person reports directly to the Executive Director.
Available Volunteer Positions: 1 Adult
Part time: 2 hours weekly/ 8 hours monthly
Benefit: Free Membership (upon completion of monthly hours).
Skills Needed: Computer skills, craft, art and maker skills and attention to detail
Duties:
- Create written curriculum and instructions to accompany projects.
- Organize and maintain supplies and supply list.
- Create projects for youth/adults and implement them into the space and set up at events.
- Report directly to Executive Director about new ideas and plans.
Description: Event crew volunteers are the heroes that make every outreach event possible. These volunteers will help get events set up and torn down, and during the event they will fulfill a variety of roles, from working directly with the community to maintaining stock supplies, emptying trash cans, and so on. Helping us in this capacity is one of the biggest ways someone can support our makerspace mission.
Available Volunteer Positions: 5 or more/Youth 16+/ Adult
Part time: Once or twice a month during peak seasons/8 hours monthly
Benefit: Free Membership (upon completion of monthly hours).
Skills Needed: Communication skills, Attention to detail, be able to lift 30+ pounds
Duties:
- Set up and take down event furniture.
- Maintain stock supplies for event.
- Empty trash bins.
- Communicate with vendors and event attendees.
Description: From day one, Made New Makerspace has been on a mission to support youth in our community who need it most. As a mentor, you will be assigned a specific youth who you will stay in contact with on a weekly basis, and when possible, work with that youth on projects and activities at the makerspace.
Available Volunteer Positions: 2+/ Adults
Part time: Once a week, sometimes more as needed /8 hours monthly
Benefit: Free Membership (upon completion of monthly hours).
Skills Needed: Communication skills, Empathetic, Guide youth in the development of skills or strategies
Duties:
- Mentor youth.
- Communicate with youth on projects and activities.
- Check in on a weekly basis.
Description: If you have a passion for land beautification we can use your help. You will help landscape or maintain grounds of property using hand, power tools or equipment. Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, or other grounds features. Every business should be looking awesome inside and out.
Available Volunteer Positions: 1-2 /youth 16+/ Adult
Part time: Once a week to once or twice a month/8 hours monthly
Benefit: Free Membership (upon completion of monthly hours).
Skills Needed: Communication Skills, Lift 50 lbs. or more, Performing General Physical Activities
Duties:
- Gather and remove litter
- Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes,, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes.
- Operate vehicles or powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles.
- Operate power equipment leaf blowers, saws, electric clippers, sod cutters etc..
- Water lawns, trees, or plants, using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans.
- Care for established lawns by weeding, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls.
