Singer Futura Computer Embroidery

The textiles room has a modular design based in the reconfigurable space of co-working. There is a variety of tables and chairs, sewing machines, computer assisted embroidery, silk-screening.  We have a large variety of tools, fabrics and resources that are available for member use.

In this room currently we have: A desktop computer with all the various software for 3D printing and modeling, x2 Prusa Mk3s, an Ender 3, a Cr-10 S5, various storage areas for 3D printing parts and supplies. and several boxes and shelf space for 3D printer filaments!

Currently we have x2 Prusa MK3s’s. Both of them are very powerful machines.

How to use them!
In order to use a 3D printer you need some software, at the makerspace we have a few computer with this software on it.
The software is called PrusaSlicer and can be downloaded for free HERE.
The process to get 3d printing is to get a 3d model file of some sort. Either by downloading or creating your own. Huge databases of 3d files exist and are worth checking out. Thingiverse is a place to start!
The next step is to load up the model file in PrusaSlicer and “Slice” it. This turns the 3d model into mechanical movement commands that the 3d printer will make in order to make this digital file a physical object.
The program then will allow you save the new file it has generated. Put it on an SD Card and plug it into the side of the LCD screen on the Prusa and turn it on and click print from SD card! It should start after it finishes heating up and you should be good to go!
We have one CR-10 S5 3D printer at the forge currently. It is our larged FDM printer. It can print a maximum size of 20in by 20 in, or 500mm by 500mm, as well as 20in/500mm in height.
Currently it is down until it can be reworked and rewired!
We have done some various modifications to it:
  • Added an upgraded bed surface
  • Added Bed Leveling hardware and software with a BL-touch
  • Reworked the extruder to use a Petsfang with a direct-drive knock-off bondtech BMG
  • Added extra stability support via more Tslot
  • Upgraded firmware to more updated version of Marlin.
  • Added various 3d printed additions
We have one Ender 3 3D printer at the forge currently. We have done some various modifications to it:
  • Added a removable magnetic bed
  • Added Bed Leveling hardware with a BL-touch
  • Added various 3d printed additions
